A life character faithfulness, diligence and by her spirit of selfless devotion to her family, church and community are words that describe Mildred Hayes Jackson. She was born on February 23, 1932, in Evergreen Louisiana to the late William Hayes and Ella Young Hayes. She was the fifth child of nine sibling. She was a devoted Christian, faithful wife, nurturing mother, loving grandmother, caring sister, aunt and friend. Mildred affectionately known by her family as Mama, Aunt Mildred and Big Mama.
Mildred was united in Holy matrimony to Willie "Tot" Jackson of Goudeau, Louisiana, on October 12, 1954. They were married for 34 years until Willie's demise on August 3, 1989. They were blessed with two sons; Billy Hayes Jackson and Robby Curtis Jackson.
God in his infinite wisdom called his Angel Mildred to transition from earth to glory to live with him forever. Although her loving spirit, sense of humor, and her very presence will be missed, we accept, with Christian submission of God’s will to call her home. She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons; Billy Hayes Jackson (Kimberly) of Ocean Spring, MS; and
Robby Curtis Jackson of Evergreen, LA; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, they all truly adored and looked up to Big Mama. She also leaves one brother, Rev. Dr. Aircey Hayes, Sr. of Menifee, CA; brother-in-law, Louis “LC” Jackson (Doris) of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Eva P. Hayes of Houston, TX, Rosemary Hayes of Los Angeles, Doris Hayes of Evergreen, LA, Hilda Jackson of Goudeau, LA and Annie Mae Jackson of Goudeau, LA. Mildred is also preceded in death by five brothers: Curtis, Preston, William, Isaac and Berlin Hayes and two sisters: Dorothy Hayes-Garner and Mary Queen Hayes, five sister-in-laws: Ethel Jackson, Angeline Hayes, Elizabeth Hayes, Alice Hayes, and Christine Hayes. Visitation for Mrs. Jackson will be held from 9-11 a.m. and services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Masks must be worn. Reverend Donald Tibbs officiating. Dr. Aircey Hayes delivering the Eulogy. Final arrangements entrusted to St. Edwards Funeral Home Bunkie Louisiana.
