Mary Joan Lacey Yager was born in New Orleans, LA on August 9, 1930 to Ada Mae Marie Long Lacey and Cyril J. Lacey. Joan grew up in New Orleans. A lifelong Catholic, she attended Sacred Heart School. She was a proud graduate of Saint Mary's Dominican College, and remained active in the Dominican Alumni Association and Kappa Gamma Pi throughout her life.
Joan married Carl Lawrence Yage in 1953 in Detroit Michigan. As the wife of a writer, advertising executive and businessman, she resided in Greenwich, Connecticut; Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Lake Charles and in Metairie, Louisiana. She worked as an editor at several large advertising agencies in the Bloomfield Hills area.
Joan spent her last years under the care of wonderful people at the Hessmer Nursing Home in Hessmer Louisiana. She is survived by Katherine Lacey Yager Boehne (David) of Royal Oak, Michigan, Kateri Yager Laborde (Charles) of New Orleans Louisiana, Susan Yager (David Heddendorf) of Ames, Iowa and Laura Ellen Yager of New Orleans Louisiana, along with two grandchildren. Interment will be held at the Long Family Crypt in Old Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans Louisiana at a later date.
