We celebrate the life of Hillary Edward "Big Hill" Simien a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Hillary was born on October 23, 1980, to Earline and Michael Simien. He is the youngest son of his mother's two children. On June 17, 2024, his life was taken unexpectedly, and he peacefully joined his parents who preceded him in death. Though short, his 43 years were filled with humility, compassion and his strong belief that he was going to live his life his way.
Hillary grew up in Palmetto, Louisiana in a close-knit family and attended North Central High School in LeBeau, Louisiana where he gained many childhood friends, then later moved to Lafayette, Louisiana. A big kid at heart he coined "himself "Taz". He loved the Saints, North Carolina, Notre Dame, cooking, and his beloved Sheba. He worked diligently for Mike Hooks Dredging for about 10 years and Evangeline Bread for 9 years until his passing, never complaining and giving it his all.
Everyone who knew Hillary knew that he was kind, gentle and compassionate with a big heart. His laughterwas contagious, and he always brightened the spirits of everyone around him with his infectious smile. He believed in the inherent goodness in people and uplifted those around him. Despite the challenges he faced, his steadfast resolve was to spread kindness and joy and by finding pleasure in the simple things in life.
In remembering Hillary, we celebrate a life well lived, a soul who made the world a better place simply by being in it. His legacy will live through us and continue to inspire everyone who had the chance of knowing him, reminding us that true inspiration lies not in what we achieve for ourselves but in the love and kindness we extend to others.
Hillary’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends. He leaves to mourn his big brother John (Missy), his four nephews; Handsome, Joshua, Jonathon and Jeremiah, his aunts and uncles, his cousins who loved him dearly, his friends and a host of relatives.
Hillary’s service’s will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Edward’s Funeral Home in Bunkie, Louisiana.Celebration of life will begin at 11am.
Rest in Power Hillary, we will love you Forever!
