Derrick D. Tanner, a life-long resident of Lemoyen, La., crossed over peacefully into his eternal life on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Ochsner’s Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, La. He was born on September 11, 1978 to the union of the late Sylvia Edwards Tanner and Emile Tanner.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev Edges Williams. He Sylvia, his mother, kept him immersed in the Christian realm of their small community, which was his lifelong support. Derrick was a hard-working provider and devoted father. Throughout life he held positions on the railroad, off-shore, turn around assignments, and mortuary service attending.
Derrick was popularly known as D-Nice. His antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He said what he meant and meant what he said. On another note, he was very compassionate and loved his family unconditionally.
He had a love for cars and riding ATV’s.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by; his brothers, Jason Paul Tanner and Roy Harrison
He leaves to cherish his memories five sisters, Cherry Jimmerson (Lee Sr.), Carol Richard (Peter), Darlene St. Romain (Maurice), Billie Powell (Kennedy), and Pamela Mason; Devoted Fiancée, Nakayla Freeman; his precious offspring, Shacorian Rhines, Derrielle Daniels, Alicia Texada, all of Bunkie, La. Tayzhionna Tanner, Kailey Tanner, Drelon Tanner, Peyton Tanner all of Morrow, La. Collin and Deedrick Tanner, Franklin, La; Derrick Tanner, Jr., Heaven Lamb, Derrion Lamb of Palmetto, La., and Dahgan Jackson of Ville Platte, La., six grandchildren, one God Son that her absolutely adored, Kaleb K. Smith, his God Father & God Mother Joseph & Edra Edwards and host of other relatives, and friends.
