Anthony Joseph Williams was born on September 8, 1962, to the late Jules Edward Williams and Hilda Mae Williams (née Cannon). He was raised in Avoyelles Parish where he graduated from Avoyelles High School. Anthony later attended Southern University and A&M College before beginning his career in the United States Air Force in the spring of 1984, serving his country with pride.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents (aforementioned) and two sisters, Linda Lewis (the late Lee Andrew Lewis) and Ruth Sampson (Stanford Sampson).
He leaves to cherish his memory his former wife, Matilda Bazile Williams; two daughters, Alexis Osemwegie (Moses Jr.) and Akikka Williams; one grandson, Moses III; two sisters, Susan Williams and Cynthia Williams; a devoted companion, Mary Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
God called Anthony home on December 30, 2025. His family, friends, and all who knew him celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that touched so many. He lived life fully and without regret. He loved his family, sports, politics, and dancing. He never met a stranger and took every opportunity he could to turn a negative into a positive. All who knew him felt a sense of possibility and empowerment after speaking with him. He was known for offering thoughtful advice, helping others whenever he could, and showing up with energy and an easy smile. His presence, guidance, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Anthony Joseph Williams will be remembered as a man who poured life into others. He had a rare ability to connect, encourage, and uplift, leaving people better than he found them. Through his service, his wisdom, his laughter, and his unwavering love for family, Anthony's legacy lives on in the confidence, strength, and hope he inspired in everyone he touched.
